Senior Whole Health Names New Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Scott Latimer is veteran health care provider with expertise in the Medicare market

CAMBRIDGE, MA, October 10, 2013 – Dr. Scott T. Latimer, a physician with nearly 30 years experience in health care plan management and direct patient care, has been named the chief medical officer of Senior Whole Health (SWH).
SWH provides all-inclusive health care and support services to Massachusetts residents who are eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid.

"Dr. Latimer brings to this position unparalleled medical knowledge, expertise, and compassion for our members," said SWH Chairman and CEO Wayne Lowell. "His ability to manage teams without jeopardizing high standards of care makes him a strong acquisition to our team."

"I was drawn to this position because of Senior Whole Health's grassroots mission of keeping its senior membership healthy without compromising their independence," said Latimer. "My work on both ends of the health care spectrum – in private practice and for HMOs – has allowed me to strategically identify and address these unique health care needs and ensure that quality care is delivered with a thoughtful approach."

Prior to joining SWH, Dr. Latimer held several positions, including regional vice president of senior products at Humana Health Care Plan Plans; director of medical operations for BlueCross/BlueShield of Massachusetts; and associate medical director for Hitchcock Clinic/Matthew Thornton Health Plan. Dr. Latimer brings a wealth of experience in the Medicare market after spending the first 10 years of his career as physician and administrator at the Hitchcock Clinic / Matthew Thornton Health. He holds a bachelor of arts degree from Dartmouth College; a master of public health degree from Tulane School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine; a doctor of medicine from Tulane University School of Medicine; and a master of business administration from Southern New Hampshire University. Dr. Latimer is board certified in family medicine and a fellow in the American Academy of Family Physicians.
